Hans Wegner designed the Shell Chair in 1963, and Carl Hansen & Son has produced it ever since — a low, sweeping shell of bent-wood that cradles the sitter without any fuss. It is one of Wegner's quieter designs, less celebrated than the Wishbone or the Flag Halyard, but perfectly resolved. This example is upholstered in luxurious Italian velvet and is in immaculate restored condition.
