LIISI BECKMANN for ZANOTTA, Italy 1966

Finnish designer Liisi Beckmann created the Karelia for Italian maker Zanotta in 1966 — and it is one of those rare pieces that you recognise the moment you see it. The form is entirely its own: sculptural, almost organic, and interesting to look at. This pair is in original red vinyl upholstery, just as it should be — the colour is part of the design, not something to be shy of. They are in exceptional preserved condition; nothing needs doing to them. The kind of chairs that make people stop, look twice, and ask questions.
