The Rock — also known as The Florence — is one of Gerard van den Berg's most recognised designs for Dutch maker Montis, and it earns its reputation. The proportions are bold: wide, deep, and tall-backed, with the kind of visual weight that anchors a room and makes everything else in it look considered. The chocolate-brown leather is original, rich in colour, and still soft to the touch — genuine aged leather that has developed rather than deteriorated. A three-seater at 200 centimetres, with a high back at 115 centimetres that gives it real presence. One of the great Dutch sofas of the 1970s.
