Vintage Lounge Chair in Olive Green Suede — Percival Lafer, Brazil 1970s

A$6,250.00

PERCIVAL LAFER, Brazil — dated 23 October 1974

Percival Lafer built his reputation in São Paulo on chairs that look heavy and sit light — generous, low-slung forms with the comfort engineered in rather than added on. This one is pure Brazilian modern: a deep, square-shouldered lounge chair with wide flat arms and a panelled, grid-stitched body, lifted just clear of the floor on a dark recessed plinth so the whole mass appears to float.

It has been newly reupholstered in olive green suede, so you get a fresh, soft nap and clean panel seams on an original 1970s frame. The seams catch the light differently across the piece, and the effect is far warmer than leather.

The armrests raise and lower, so you can set them where they suit you best.

An authentic, original piece by Percival Lafer, dated 23 October 1974 — not a reproduction. Few chairs of this age can be pinned to the day they were made.
