Vintage Mid-Century Armless Lowback Siesta Lounge Chair, Brown Leather — Ingmar Relling for Westnofa, Norway
INGMAR RELLING for WESTNOFA, Norway
Sold individually, A$2,950 each. Two available.
A vintage mid-century Siesta lounge chair, designed by Ingmar Relling in 1965 and made by Westnofa in Norway. It is a landmark of Scandinavian modern design. Westnofa bent laminated wood into the chair's long S-curve, so it stands on four cantilevered legs. This is the armless lowback version, in black-lacquered bentwood, letting the outline do the talking.
Behind it, a black canvas sling is laced into the frame with rows of eyelets. A single loose cushion forms both seat and back, newly upholstered in deep chocolate-brown leather with a fine pebbled grain and a stitched edge. It is the kind of hide that softens and darkens the more it is sat in. A Norwegian low-back lounge chair for a mid-century room or a contemporary one.
Approx. 80H × 62W × 80D cm.
