Vintage Danish Lounge Chairs in Black Leather, with Armrests, 1970s
Vintage Danish Lounge Chairs in Black Leather, with Armrests, 1970s
DANISH LOUNGE CHAIRS, 1970s, attributed to Ingmar Relling — black leather, black-stained cantilevered frames
A pair of low-back Danish lounge chairs that do a lot with very little. Each has a black-stained cantilevered frame holding a single loose leather cushion, deeply padded and stitched into soft horizontal rolls from back to seat, so you sink in rather than sit on. The cantilever gives the chair a gentle spring as you sit back, which adds to the comfort.
The black leather has the soft, broken-in feel that new leather takes years to get. Black on black keeps the chairs graphic and modern, and they look as right in a contemporary apartment as in a mid-century room.Made in Denmark in the 1970s.
Dimensions (each chair): W 68 cm × D 72 cm × H 70 cm. Seat height 38 cm.
Condition: very good vintage condition.
